The EFF, Mozilla, Cisco, and Akamai announced Let's Encrypt. Let's Encrypt will give out free certificates for encrypting web servers. You just use an automated interface and get a certificate. There will be no excuse for not using SSL/TLS everywhere. I talked about this in a previous post, but this really makes it a reality. Coming summer of 2015.
Certificates plus IPv6 will give us a more secure Internet.
